-My name is Spencer Kite and I am a qualified integrative* counsellor.
-My private practice is based at Fulcrum House (just off the top end of Whiteladies Rd, BS9).
-I offer weekly sessions, by appointment, to suit individual client needs (Mon-Fri).
~Initial 1 hour session is £30.
~All subsequent sessions £40.
Something about my training:
- I have held a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling since September 2008.
-My professional training defines me as an *integrative counsellor.
~This means that I work in a way that (you guessed it), integrates key elements of established therapeutic theory into an adaptive manner of working; that honours the unique needs, human qualities and presence each client brings. ~This integrated approach therefore provides a strong framework to safely, ethically and, in a contained manner, explore what is unfolding in the counselling session, whilst also allowing for a flexible, responsive way of working with each client.
And a little about outside of my private practice:
-I am also a counsellor at the Bristol-based agency, Kinergy (since early 2009). Here, I have work solely with individuals who are survivors of sexual abuse and rape. -In addition, I have experience of working in several different counselling agencies, in both the South West and London. This has included:
counselling students in a centre for higher/further education,
offering general therapeutic support on a wide range of issues.
-I am a Registered Member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and therefore subscribe to their ethical framework in my professional practice.
-As such, I support my Self and my work via Continuing Professional Development (formal and informal) , along with the ever so essential "Life Enhancing Activities" (aka fun and absorbing things).
-Both professionally and personally, I find myself extremely interested in the broad question of how it is to be a psychologically embodied human being. I hold particular fascination in a number of areas including;
Depression (& Anxiety)
Compassion and Self-Compassion
The Neuroscientific exploration of all of the above.
